CES: innovation champion Germany
The organisers of the CES trade fair in Las Vegas rate Germany as one of the most innovative countries in the world.
Las Vegas (dpa/d.de) - At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Germany has again been recognised as one of the world’s most innovative countries. CES President Gary Shapiro presented the award to Minister for Digital Volker Wissing. The minister said that the innovation award was encouraging and made him optimistic, adding that “made in Germany is still valued here.” In terms of Germany’s exhibitors at CES, Wissing said it would be fair to say the innovations on show put Germany was “right at the cutting edge”.
The “German Pavilion” was organised by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) as a communal space for German businesses to present their innovations. This year 28 businesses are represented under the banner of “Made in Germany”. The German carmaker BMW is presenting its “Panoramic iDrive” display (see photo) and a new operating system for what it calls its “new class” of cars.
First established in 1967, CES is the world’s largest technology trade fair and takes place in Las Vegas every year. Developers, manufacturers and retailers from the fields of software, hardware and industry present their visions of the technologies of the future.
