German Sustainability Awards presented
For the second time, 100 businesses were recognised for their pioneering contribution to sustainable transformations in their respective sectors.
Düsseldorf (ots) - At a ceremony to mark the 17th German Sustainability Award (DNP), 100 businesses were recognised for their achievements in the area of sustainability. This was the second time such awards have been presented, as part of a programme run jointly between the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) and the WWF. A further four businesses were presented with awards in recognition of their cross-sector work in the transformative areas of resources, society/value creation chains, nature, and climate. Special awards were presented to the former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson, the innovative Labor Tempelhof project, and the singers Dani Klein (Vaya Con Dios) and Nico Santos. The winners received their awards in Düsseldorf in front of an audience of 1,000.
“Mastering the fundamental environmental and social tasks which face us today demands joint efforts, conviction and bravery,” said Stefan Schulze-Hausmann, instigator of the DNP and chair of the German Sustainability Award Foundation.
The German Sustainability Award is Germany’s national honour for outstanding achievements in sustainability across all sectors. With six competitions, including healthcare for the first time, over 1,300 entrants and 3,000 guests, the event is the largest award of its kind in Europe.
