Meat Processing and packaging, Nigeria
Healthily process meat products being consumed by the populace.
Project name: Meat Processing and packaging
Project location: Kaduna, Nigeria
Project description:
In a state like Kaduna state the third most populated state in Nigeria, a standard abattoir seems a far fetch reality, hence noticing this problem and the unhealthy way meat and meat products are being processed, we procured a site for establishing one whilst aiming to gradually develop it and healthily process and package staple meat products for consumption which include cow, goat, chicken, turkey meat and grass-cutter.
Goal and purpose of the project:
In Kaduna state of Nigeria, my potential market area, there currently exists no standard abattoir or slaughter house to healthily process meat products being consumed by the populace. Hence there exists a high risk of epidemic; the establishment of one cannot be overstated.
With an increasingly enlightened populace and working based on minimum health requirements for establishing an abattoir set by the state ministry of health, we have procured 3plots of land to site the abattoir with advisory support from the veterinary council of Nigeria and an in-house veterinary doctor to properly and healthily process and package the most staple meat products like cow, goat, turkey, chicken etc. for consumption.
Motivation of the applicant / applicant team:
The add to add, renew and recreate value. To generate jobs and social partnership in our own little way as we will involve direct labour on the site of the abattoir and procure the animals directly from the farmers who rear these animals living within the community we are siting this project.
Use of prize money:
the raw materials(9000 euros for the cows, goats chickens, sheep, turkey and grass-cutters), a cold room(1590 euros) and remodel the structure present to meet basic standard(4410 euros). this is to meet a production capacity of 20tons annually.
