Berlin (d.de) – Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Robert Habeck will open the 11th Berlin Climate Forum on Tuesday. Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (BETD). Ministers and high-ranking delegations from more than 130 countries will meet with representatives from the private sector, academia and civil society at the Foreign Ministry in Berlin to discuss the financing of the global energy transition. Strategies for the further expansion of renewable energies will also be presented with a view to meeting the global COP28 targets.

At a time when the USA, the world's second-largest CO2 emitter, has once again withdrawn from the Paris Agreement, there is a need for increased international cooperation and constructive dialogue in order to achieve a successful energy transition, said the Foreign Ministry. For this reason, the 11th BETD is to be seen as an implementation conference at which concrete solutions for the global energy transition are to be discussed and developed.

The BETD has been organised by the Federal Government since 2015. More than 2,000 guests are set to attend the two-day conference.
