“For Women in Science” award presented
Four young women researchers recognised for their outstanding work at German research institutions.

Düsseldorf (d.de) – Four young women researchers working in Germany have been honoured with the 2025 “For Women in Science” prize. Awarded by the German UNESCO Commission, the Humboldt Network and the L’Oréal Foundation, the prize recognises outstanding female early-career researchers. What is particularly interesting this is year is that all four prizewinners came to Germany from abroad to pursue their research.
The recipients are Dr. Casey Paquola (Forschungszentrum Jülich), Dr. Rana Hussein Ali (University of Frankfurt), Dr. Line Muradi (University of Münster) and Dr. Jingyuan Xu (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology). Each receives prize money of 25,000 euros. More than 50 young women researchers in Germany have won this coveted award to date.
The L’Oréal Foundation and UNESCO have been supporting outstanding women in research since 1998 under the motto “The world needs science – and science needs women”. Established in Germany in 2007, the “For Women in Science” programme has so far supported 4,400 women worldwide – including seven who later went on to win the Nobel Prize.
