Germany supports Adaptation Fund
Another 60 million euros for the states worst hit by the climate crisis.
Berlin (d.de). Germany will be providing 60 million euros to support the Adaptation Fund, as the country’s Environment Ministry and Federal Foreign Office announced at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku. Germany will thus once again be making a substantial contribution to financing adaptations to climate change. The Adaptation Fund supports those countries that are at greatest risk from the climate crisis. Germany is the biggest donor to this central multilateral instrument for funding climate adaptation measures.
At the same time, the Adaptation Fund is an important means of fostering global stability and security. Since 2010, the Fund has made around 1.2 billion US dollars available to projects aimed at adapting to climate change, including more than 180 concrete projects that will benefit over 45 million people in the most at-risk communities in developing countries. Since the Fund was set up in 2007, Germany has contributed more than 640 million US dollars.
