Berlin (d.de) - The 16th Petersberg Climate Dialogue, attended by diplomats from all over the world, will begin in Berlin on Tuesday. UN Secretary-General António Guterres will be taking part in the meeting, which traditionally serves to prepare for the next UN Climate Conference, via a video link. COP30 will be held in the Brazilian city of Belém in November. The Petersberg Climate Dialogue is always staged by Germany in cooperation with whichever country holds the COP presidency - this year that is Brazil. The country will be represented in Berlin by the COP president-delegate in Belém, André Corrêa do Lago.
On behalf of the German government, Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Federal Government Special Envoy for International Climate Action Jennifer Morgan will be attending the meeting. Scholz will give a speech on Wednesday.
