Project description:

This is a non-profit initiative which is an annual event that Discover, Develop, Empower, Reward, Showcase and encourages the state of ICT in Nigerian education system. National Technology Competition an initiative to take care of ICT education in secondary school and ICT education in tertiary institution,
We support the government and management of ICT education in Nigeria under the Public Private Partnership (PPP). This event is used to introduce entrepreneurship in ICT and encourage participant through their knowledge, skills in the benefit and employment opportunity in the industry. We also want to use this to promote ICT inclusion in education.

Aim and objective

  1. Transforming the youth through technology in Nigeria.
  2. Stimulate the entrepreneurship opportunity in information technology in Nigeria education system.
  3. Help students discover their creative skills through the competition.
  4. Working with gifted and talented students through identification and challenge.
  5. To promote the development of ICT infrastructure for educational need of youth.
  6. To promote the inclusion of ICT in the Nigeria education curriculum effectively through adequate delivery and infrastructure
  7. To enhance existing educational facilities and capacity and create new sustainable innovative educational system to meet the needs of those traditionally excluded from the educational system by using ICT.
  8. To create awareness of the impact of ICT as it affects all facets of the society and is used to meet real development needs such as wealth creation, job creation, poverty reduction, economic growth and education.

The 2015 season edition was themed: a web design to promote tourism in Nigeria. 200 students applied at the first round, 30 at the semi final and 6 at the final. The star prize was a 5 day trip to Dubai internet city. The 2017 edition is themed: Promoting the passion for technology and digital inclusion in the 21st century student.

Goal and purpose of the project:

Goal; Discover, Develop, Empower, Reward, Showcase and encourage the state of ICT in Nigeria education system.
Purpose;

  1. Transforming the youth through technology in Nigeria.

Motivation of the applicant / applicant team:

Been the convener of the project National technology competition, I was surfing the internet on what and how to improve and keep the project National technology competition alive, then i come across #youforG20. I decided to participate because presently the 2nd edition 2017, is going through some financial challenges because we couldn't get sponsorship this year and we have to go ahead with the competition. Registration is ongoing, students have been applying, see details in the calendar below;
National Technology Competition Season Two Program, Activities, Date and Duration S/No Activities Duration Date

  1. Registration of School and student and Submission of Project work-2 and 1/2 months 10th April - 15th July 2017
  2. Screening and Selection of Semi - finalist by Seone Education Services/Quadcore Technology ltd- 1 day-16th July
  3. Invite finalists to Abuja-1 day-17th July
  4. Arrival of finalist-1 day-24th July
  5. Visit to a Radio/Tv station by finalist - 1 day- 26th July
  6. Grand Finale/Award Ceremony/Exhibition- 1 day-28th July

Budget covers publicity (television, radio, newspaper, internet), awards, remuneration for official, honorarium for the jury, food and drink during the 5 technology development camp( incubation hub)
I believe when i win the prize money will be use to advance and add value to existing plan.

Use of prize money

  1. To complete and improve the budget of 2017 edition.
  2. To purchase computer devices for infrastructural support as awards for the participating schools and students.
  3. To be use to create a train the learner project for the teachers in the rural area on information technology.
  4. To create a proper support towards the 5 day information technology development camp
  5. Remuneration for the officials and honorarium for the judges
  6. To create a scholarship funds for student willing to develop a career in Information technology in Nigeria.
  7. To be able to plan appropriately for 2018 edition.
