How do I find a job in Germany?

Whether vocational training or career: there are numerous programmes that make it easier for international skilled professionals to enter the German job market.

Want to work in Germany but don’t know how to go about it? Government programmes offer good opportunities by connecting international skilled professionals with German employers. The key player here is the ZAV – the International and Specialist Services unit of Germany’s Federal Employment Agency (BA). It recruits skilled professionals and trainees from around the world and supports them in starting training or work in Germany. 

Programmes that might interest you: 

Healthcare and nursing professions 

Nursing specialist/registered nurse 

Mexico: The BA works with Mexico’s national employment agency to recruit trained nurses for hospitals across Germany. Current job offers are to be found on the BA website

Nursing professionals 

Bosnia-Herzegovina, Philippines, Tunisia, Indonesia, Kerala (India), Jordan: in these countries the BA is looking for trained nursing staff through the Triple Win programme.  

Vietnam: Triple Win is a programme that enables young people with previous experience in nursing to take a three-year nursing training programme and obtain subsequent employment.

Doctors 

Mexico, Colombia: the programme “Specialized!” supports Colombian and Mexican doctors in going through the recognition process in Germany, including full medical licensing. There is also the option of completing specialist medical training. Regularly updated information about the programme is available online

ICT and engineers

Brazil, Colombia, Mexico: the BA supports ICT specialists with language acquisition, job searches, visa issues, recognition of qualifications and more. The programme “Specialized!” supports Colombian and Mexican doctors in going through the recognition process in Germany, including full medical licensing. 

Skilled professionals and trainees

Colombia: Through the project T.E.A.M. - “Trabajadores Colombianos Especializados para Alemania” – the BA is looking for skilled professionals in areas such as electronics, mechatronics, metal construction and the building trade to work for German employers. Information is provided by the Colombian partner Servicio Público de Empleo

Brazil, El Salvador, Colombia, Mexico, Uzbekistan, India: school students who want to train in a medical or industrial/technical profession can follow the programme APAL and complete their vocational training in Germany. See the BA website for details.
