Net Art in Germany
The Internet has long since begun to develop its own artistic forms of expression. These web pages let you form your own impression of the creative activity in these channels.
European Media Art Festival
The latest trends in media art are featured each year at the European Media Art Festival (EMAF) in Osnabrück. Artists from all over the world present their current work – including experimental films, performances or installations. The program also includes a congress and not one, but four, awards ceremonies.
FORO ARTISTICO - International Media Art Forum of Hanover
For more than twelve years, the galleries of the FORO ARTISTICO in a former ice factory in Hannover have been a forum for international media art. Video sculptures, interactive video and computer installations, sound and light spaces are presented there, and CD ROM productions and Internet projects are integrated.
transmediale
The international multimedia “transmediale“ staged in Germany‘s capital, Berlin, each year is a “must attend“ event for anyone interested in art and the media: with a modest beginning as a “Video Fest” at the International Film Festival in Berlin, it is now that largest festival for art and the creative application of digital media in Germany.
ZKM_ONLINE
A modern museum ought to be a partner in the production of art - at least in the opinion of Peter Weibel, director of the Center for Art and Media Technology (Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie, ZKM). Exhibits show the associated Media Museum and the Museum for New Art. The ZKM studies the development of information technologies and the transformation of social structures. This cultural institution combines production and research, exhibits, events, mediation and documentation.
