Volunteering for refugees and by refugees
At a meeting of foreign ministers in Vienna in November 2015, participants successfully agreed on important points for the Syrian peace process.

All over Germany volunteers are helping newly-arrived refugees. Their efforts are now being encouraged more actively by the German Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ). The end of 2015 saw the launch of the special programme Federal Volunteer Service for Refugees. It will supplement the existing Federal Volunteer Service with an additional 10,000 places aimed at helping refugees. An additional 50 million euros will be provided on an annual basis to this end. “This way we are supporting people’s efforts on behalf of refugees as well as those of refugees themselves who wish to find a new home here,” explains Family Affairs Minister Manuela Schwesig.
