He is the first European to make it into the NFL without following the traditional route through college football. What is more, 22-year-old Moritz Böhringer only began playing American football five years ago, most recently for two-time German champions Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns. At the pro day of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, however, the engineering student from Germany attracted a huge amount of attention from NFL scouts. Above all, the talent seekers were impressed by the wide receiver’s great speed. In the NFL draft Böhringer was then selected by the Minnesota Vikings. There he will be playing alongside running back Adrian Peterson, the player who inspired Böhringer to take up the game when he was 17.
