Train to freedom
A multimedia project depicts the escape of Christian Bürger from the GDR in 1989.
In 1989 Christian Bürger escapes from the GDR to the Federal Republic. He first flees to the German Embassy in Prague, where he finally boards the ‘train to freedom’. The 14 episodes bring to life the memories of the dramatic weeks and months, including diary entries and talks with witnesses of the times.
