Project description:

This project is focused on tackling the growing problem of waste by encouraging recycling activities through an innovative mobile application called Bin-Go and other social events tied to it which are briefly discussed below. Bin-Go App enables seamless communication between customers, waste management authorities, waste scavengers and waste merchants who want to buy recyclable materials such as post consumer waste plastic, aluminum/tin cans, paper and other recyclables. Bin-Go app also enables waste monitoring, collection schedule and bill payment through a secured online payment system which enhances transparency and eliminates revenue loss.

GREEN AWARDS
Green Award is a social events/eco-friendly business gala where households, companies/organizations, partners, etc who use our products, services and practice eco-friendly lifestyle are recognized and awarded. Awardees who receive Green Awards Certificate/trophy become our ambassadors for creating more awareness about pollution, encourage sustainability to become an everyday lifestyle and help reduce natural resource exploitation. This will directly lead to enabling and the entrenchment of eco-friendly lifestyle which will lead to social, environment and economic impact in Nigeria, Africa and the world.

GREEN WALK
Green walk is an environmental sanitation and health/fitness exercise which is designed to facilitate cleanliness of the environment and well-being of the body. Participants of Green Walk are given a trash bag, hand gloves and other gears to clean different selected environment during a 4 kilometers walk in a specially chosen area known to be dirty. Participants are expected to pick/collect recyclable materials such as pet bottle, soda cans and paper which are weighed and sorted at a rendezvous point and the person with the most pick is declared the winner and goes home with a price.

Goal and purpose of the project:

The main purpose of this project is to enable sustainable waste management and more recycling activities, to engender and entrench eco-friendly living as a main street lifestyle. Furthermore, this is also to create a system/platform that recognizes waste scavengers as an organized workforce who contributes to the progressive social, economic and environmental impact through their recycling activities.

Our goal is for Bingo to become an institutional mobile application/enterprise system that facilitates proper waste management and recycling activities thereby enabling a circular economic model that benefits people and the environment. We anticipate a massive sign up and consistent usage of Bingo Mobile application due to the numbers of people who have indicated their interest to use Bingo when it is deployed.

Motivation of the applicant / applicant team:

I have always been passionate about the cleanliness and well-being of the people (especially the marginalized and those in low income spectrum), plants, animals and my environment in general and would like to assert that the aforementioned are mostly what have inspired and motivated me to start this initiative/venture. My major interest at the moment is to use this initiative as a platform for creating more opportunities for development and progressive growth leading to impact on three key levels of sustainability; social, environment, economic.

The team is made up three Founders/Board of Director;

Alex-Okolie Victor is a Co-founder/Board of Director, a Tony Elemelu Foundation Fellow with Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems from University of Ghana and functions as the Chief Operating Office,
Esther Ochuwa is the second Co-Founder and also functions as the Chief Executive Office.
Temofe Okolie Sophie is the third Co-Founder and also functions as the Chief Financial Officer.
GoGo-Anazodo, Isioma Josephine a Banker with extensive years of experience in the banking industry and currently the Head of Compliance department Diamond Bank Nigeria is among the Board of Directors.
Ola Ajayi with a Master of Science (MSc) in Mobile Applications from the University of Bradford functions as the Chief Technology Officer.
Lolade Shelle functions as the Business Development Manager.

Use of prize money:

The prize money will be used to execute the project and ensure that we deploy Bingo as scheduled. A list of items/what the money will be spent on are highlighted below:
Upfront payment for application development
Patent and license registrations
Advertisement and promotion of mobile application
Training of field and marketing staff
Utilities bills and miscellaneous
