Chemnitz (dpa) – In connection with the city’s designation as European Capital of Culture 2025, the Chemnitz region will become an open-air gallery for contemporary art. Presenting works by 90 national and international artists at 70 different locations, the “Purple Path” is a flagship project under the Chemnitz Capital of Culture Programme. The artists represented include Sean Scully, Tony Cragg, Olaf Holzapfel, Uli Aigner, Tanja Rochelmeyer, Rebecca Horn and Alice Aycock. The "Purple Path" winds its way from Chemnitz through 38 municipalities in the surrounding area and will be extended over the course of the year. Many of the artworks will remain in public spaces throughout the Capital of Culture year of 2025 and will continue to attract art lovers to the region in the future.
