Contemporary history for the big screen
Wim Wenders was awarded an Honorary Golden Bear for his lifetime achievement.
Wim Wenders is good at setting the stage for others: his latest film The Salt of the Earth paid tribute to Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado; Pina was a homage to the late choreographer Pina Bausch; and Tokyo-Ga was a portrait of Japanese filmmaker Yasujiro Ozu. The director whose work offers a snapshot of contemporary history was in the limelight himself at the 2015 Berlinale: he was awarded an Honorary Golden Bear for his lifetime achievement. Visitors to the festival also had the chance to see a broad selection of his films, including Paris, Texas and Wings of Desire.
