HRK – the voice of higher education
The German Rectors’ Conference represents the interests of 268 state-run and state-recognised colleges and universities.
The German Rectors’ Conference (HRK) is a voluntary association that represents the interests of 268 state-run and state-recognised higher education institutions – from universities to theological colleges – at which 94% of all students in Germany are enrolled. The HRK sees itself as the voice of higher education with regard to politics and the public and it deals with all questions that affect the responsibilities of higher education institutions: research, teaching and studying, academic training, knowledge and technology transfer, international cooperation and self-administration.
At the same time, the HRK represents the majority of researchers outside industry. In addition to its headquarters in Bonn and an office in Berlin, the HRK also maintains offices at the European Union in Brussels as well as in Tokyo and other cities to represent the interests of German higher education around the world. The HRK website at www.hoch schulkompass.de offers a comprehensive database of study programmes in Germany.
