New cyber defence unit for the Bundeswehr
The Federal Ministry of Defence is setting up a new cyber defence command.
Conflicts are increasingly being fought out digitally. Germany is responding to this by setting up a new Bundeswehr unit, the Cyber and Information Space Command (Kdo CIR). It will incorporate about 13,500 personnel and be led by a lieutenant-general, who will take command on 1 April 2017.
