Mаríа starts by finding information on the website of Germany’s Bundesagentur für Arbeit - the Federal Employment Agency, or “BA”. There she finds a page dedicated to ICT/Engineers and she also uses the general job portal to find current vacancies in Germany.
The BA offers a dedicated support programme for IT specialists from Mexico, which includes help with finding a job.

4. Visa and residence permit

Mаríа has been offered the job! Now she can apply for a work visa. She meets the
requirements for the visa as her degree from Mexico is comparable to a degree
from a German higher education institution. The salary for her new job meets the
minimum requirement for shortage occupations (currently €39,682.80), so she is
eligible for an EU Blue Card. Skilled workers can apply for an Opportunity Card if
they do not yet have a job offer.
