Żywy hydrogen fuel-cell hybrid vehicle, India
The idea is to build a hybrid car, driven by combining the electricity produced by three renewable sources of energies.
Project description:
Żywy is a hydrogen fuel-cell hybrid vehicle.
The idea here is to design and build a hybrid car, driven by combining the electricity produced by three major renewable sources of energies. First one is biodiesel – a domestically produced, renewable fuel that can be manufactured from vegetable oils, animal fats etc. Second one is solar energy – the energy harnessed from the sun. Third one is hydrogen – it is used in a fuel-cell to produce electricity. By integrating these three systems, we will be creating a highly eco-friendly drive system running mainly on hydrogen.
Goal and purpose of the project:
The final aim and goal of this project is to drive and demonstrate the proposed vehicle to the public.
We will be driving the vehicle from our college till Pumpwell (a place in Mangaluru city) .
We will be establishing hydrogen and biodiesel filling stations on the way to provide fuel for the vehicle . We will be covering approximately 7.3km driving at the speed of 40-50km/hr range. Thereby proving that the renewable and non polluting alternate energy sources can be used for the future of transportation system, making our precious planet cleaner and greener.
Our objective is also to motivate other people to do studies and research on hydrogen and other renewable sources of technologies, so that the present generation can be aware of it and help to change the transportation system in the near future.
Motivation of the applicant / applicant team:
The main motivation to start this project is because of the current environmental pollution and also the depletion of fossil fuels in the near future.
Fossil fuels are most widely used fuel on the planet. But, they pose some serious problems worldwide. There are two key problems with continued use of fossil fuels, which meet about 80% of the world energy demand today.
- They are limited in amount and sooner or later will be depleted .
- Fossil fuels are causing serious environmental problems.
To overcome this crisis and save the environment, we need alternative sources of energies. That alternative is non-polluting renewable sources
of energies like solar, hydrogen etc.
Use of prize money:
The prize money will be used for the components to build the vehicle and also for the demonstrating event. The major hurdle to build the project is hydrogen fuel-cell stack. The hydrogen fuel-cell stack is very expensive in the current market, also we need to import it from foreign countries. So, the prize money will be mainly used to bear the expenses involved in the fuel-cell stack unit. Prize money will also be utilized to buy other various components required to build the vehicle.
